Established in 1971 in Milan, SDA Bocconi has grown to offer one of the most prestigious MBAs in Europe, and certainly the best in Italy, but the school has not been content to rest on its laurels. Fluency in languages is highly valued and the School provides courses in both Italian and English. Non-Italian-speaking students are offered an Italian language course during the whole Program while non-native English speakers are able to strengthen their language proficiency taking an intensive English course until December.
Program
Active methodologies are used throughout the Program. The analysis and discussion of company cases play a significant role, together with traditional lessons, guided discussions, practical exercises, business games, simulations, first-hand business experiences, individual projects, group work, workshops and seminars.
Proactive Stance Towards Women
It has boosted the ratio of women among its 100 or so full-time students to 40% from 18% in the past three years, thanks in part to new women-only grants and recruiting events. Next year the program will be shortened by six weeks, to 12 months, to get students into the job market earlier, and the Italian-language track will be discontinued.
