Essays
Applicants should try to display a diversity of experience and insight into how complex issues such a globalization, ethics, environmentalism and politics impact business operations. Haas puts special emphasis on social responsibility and entrepreneurship/innovation.
Creativity
Haas promotes creativity and innovation. And thus in two essays Haas asks students to display the creative and innovative sides of their personality:
If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be, and how would you do it differently? (250-word maximum)
At Haas, we value innovation and creativity. Describe an innovative solution you have created to address a specific challenge? (250 word maximum)
Use these essays to show Haas’ admissions committee your creative side, but it needs to have a practical sense and purpose too.
Interviews
Interview given to 30% of the whole application pool; 50% out of the 30% are admitted (i.e., 15% of whole).
Committee Review Process
Five full time members, no faculty, no students
Six application reviewers - first review by part-timers; second review by committee members; third review by the full committee after the interview (seven student interviewers, also with trained alumni interviewers.
