The predictive validity of the GMAT has, to some degree, been supported by various research studies. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the organization that owns the GMAT, claims that the correlation between GMAT scores and first-year graduate business school grades is 0.48 on a scale of 0.00 to 1.00, which most researchers would classify as a moderately strong relationship. A more specific study not connected to GMAC examined the links between GMAT scores and grades in graduate accounting classes, and found results that suggest "total GMAT score, particularly math GMAT score" to be "significantly associated with superior performance in graduate level accounting." Interestingly, the study's authors did not find a similar correlation between graduate school academic performance and undergraduate GPA. The GMAT's credibility as an assessment is sound, and GMAT skills have been independently associated with success in graduate-level courses.

Business schools are generally secretive about how they consider the various components of applications, but according to a recent survey, admissions consultants believe that the GMAT counts for more than 20% of admissions decisions and more than any other single factor. Manhattan Review's GMAT prep courses and private tutoring have helped our clients get accepted to elite business schools such as Stanford, Harvard, Northwestern, MIT, UC Berkeley, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, Cambridge, and many more. High GMAT scores greatly increase the chances of admission to top business schools, and graduate business degrees from respected programs facilitate strong job opportunities. Manhattan Review clients have been hired by Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors, Express Scripts Holdings, Dow Chemical, and United Technologies. We also have former students now working for top Paris companies such as 360Learning, Rothschild & Co., Turner Broadcasting System France, and Valeo.
